The Tricues Innovation

The Tricues Story

The original game of billiards was an indoor version of croquet and played with a mace. The billiard cue as we know it originated in the late 1600's as a result of developments in the game when players started using the 'banks' (cushions) to play shots off.

The name Billiards come from the French word Billiard (one of the wooden sticks used to strike the ball). From this beginning all the modern cuesport games developed.

The dominant game of billiards in Britain from about the 1770's to the 1920's was English Billiards which in turn developed into Snooker, which it is generally agreed, Colonel Sir Neville Chamberlain conceived in the British Army Officers Mess in Jubbalpore, India in 1875.

So, what about the cues?

Since their invention in the late 1600's the cue has always been tapered, larger at the butt end, usually made of wood and, round in section. There are many wood combinations used in the manufacture of cues but, they are all essentially the same.

Now we have Tricues, the first commercially available cue with a partly triangular profile!

Tricue is the most significant cuesport innovation of modern times. Invented by pool enthusiast Campbell Brown, initially as a way to improve the consistency of his own game, it became clear that he was on to something when his own hand made cues kept disppearing from pubs during matches. He developed the idea further, refined the design and started selling them on ebay and local sports shops.

Campbell applied for and was granted a patent on his invention and joined forces with Paul McGuire to market Tricues. Together, they have produced an extensive range of two and three piece cues and, have recently completed trials of their new American Pool Cue which will be available later this year.

Tricues are legal in all cuesports. They are catching on fast and more and more players are enjoying the benefits of using one. Don't get left behind, get yourself one today!

Tricues and the Tricues logo are now registered trademarks.
